Artist's Statement
The history began when I was 3 years old... I painted our play room yellow with my parents' oil paints. There was no stopping me. Before I graduated high school I had begun taking courses at the Memphis College of Art. I started with drawing, painting, and textiles and then I played with a little clay.
My college degree is in Advertising Design. My 20 year career was in Advertising Design and Marketing. After "enough" accomplishments and working too many hours, I was able to go back to school and take some more courses in Art. This time my focus was in ceramics. A new flame was kindled.
During those 20 years I was able to take many courses in painting and ceramics. these courses were at Memphis State University, Memphis College of Art, and Callanwolde, among others. My painting studies were with J.D.Kelley and Lafayette Ragsdale.
My ceramics are small and easy to handle. I enjoy throwing on the wheel and carving a great deal! I love the feel of the clay when it it is wet, when it is leather hard and when it is fired! I love making pieces to be viewed, touched, used and enjoyed.
